Location

Nan Fung Place

Date & Time

10.04.2025 - 13.07.2025

100+ Works from Kensa Hung’s “Urban Still Waters” Depict Everyday Whimsies

Art and life are inseparable. NF Breathing Space has invited Hong Kong artist Kensa Hung for a solo exhibition Urban Still Waters, which concludes his 10-year renowned project - The Bowl of Water Collection. Discarded flowers transform a roadside garbage bin into a “vase”; a chirping bird in a cage becomes an old man’s “cassette player”; and even the summer practice of swatting mosquitos becomes a “bloody crime scene”. These seemingly insignificant titbits of our city inspire Kensa, resulting in whimsically heartwarming artworks that will surely bring a smile to your face.

The 100+ line illustrations on display belong to Kensa’s Collection which began in 2015. Kensa captured interesting moments in his notebook and shared them on his social media platform, which eventually became the The Bowl of Water Collection – a mirror reflecting not only the city we call home, but also of the artist’s playfulness and bittersweet sentiments for Hong Kong. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the collection now comprises more than 500 works. For his solo exhibition Urban Still Waters at Nan Fung Place, Kensa is presenting three new large-scale works, alongside over 100 curated works from the Collection, concluding this decade-long journey. Kensa has also specially created 3D works for NF Breathing Space, providing photo-taking opportunities and allowing visitors to experience the city from an artist’s point of view.

In addition to the artwork on display, a book titled A Year of Still Waters is available for purchase. This book, published in conjunction with the exhibition, features 360 works, allowing visitors to take a piece of the exhibition home to savour and collect.
